E-scooters and e-bikes now back to help you get around

E-bikes and e-scooters are again giving Waterloo Region residents another convenient way to get where they need to go. These rentable orange vehicles returned to city streets in April 2024 to offer sustainable, affordable transportation during the warmer months.

This program first launched in spring 2023. The first year resulted in:

  • 46,000 riders
  • 190,000 trips
  • 360,000 kilometers travelled – that’s like crossing Canada from coast to coast, 65 times
  • $8.2 million into the Waterloo Region economy
  • 12 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions saved, the equivalent of roughly 192 mature trees

This program is a partnership between the Region of Waterloo and the cities of Cambridge, Waterloo and Kitchener. The service is provided by Neuron Mobility.

E-scooters and e-bikes are an affordable choice, ideal for short trips. They’re a way for people to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. The program is also a great complement for public transit, helping people get to and from GRT routes and their destinations.

This Neuron micromobility program is just one way the Region of Waterloo is building a sustainable transportation network. Public transit is always evolving – learn more about how we’re making it easier for people to get around in our latest episode of the “Your Region Pod” podcast.
