Your seat at the table for shaping the future of Waterloo Region

Here in Waterloo Region, we’re saving you a seat at the decision-making table. EngageWR is our platform where people can contribute to decisions that directly affect their lives. Since its launch in 2018, this public engagement tool has been helping people connect with their local governments. Now in 2025, it has been updated with added features and capabilities to help you share ideas, influence decisions, and have your voice heard.

Examples of current projects include:

Building community connections

In the last few years, EngageWR has experienced significant growth, with more residents joining the platform and contributing to a range of community projects. Over this tool’s lifespan, over 12,000 people have registered and left almost 50,000 contributions.

More residents are taking an active role in shaping what happens in their communities, from traffic plans to public health initiatives. And we could not be more thrilled. This genuine collaboration makes it easier for us all to connect, contribute, and create better outcomes together.

What’s new?

The EngageWR platform updated in February 2025 with:

  • More interactive features: Engage with projects and provide feedback more easily
  • Personalized notifications: You can choose to stay updated on the projects that matter to you
  • Improved accessibility: Navigate the platform effortlessly on any device

This new version of EngageWR makes it even easier to make community-driven decisions. Growing this tool helps local governments stay connected to what people want and need.
