What happens when you give people tools for positive change?
Two years ago, the Region of Waterloo created the Upstream Fund to help us invest in the community in a more equitable way. This fund shifts power to community. It removes barriers to funding for community-led organizations that are historically underserved. Decisions are made by the community, for the community, to help funds go where they’re most needed.
Over two years, $8.2 million has supported 70+ organizations and grassroots groups.
From youth programs to healing spaces, to land-based learning and more – recipients are as diverse as the needs of community. Together, the projects create an upstream effect to positively impact our region.
