Repurposing unused church space into much-needed affordable housing1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteCommunities thrive when everyone has a place to call home. That’s why St. Peter’s Church recently announced an innovative project to bring more affordable housing to downtown Kitchener.
Along with its charitable partner Indwell, the church will renovate its existing structure on Queen Street North, and repurpose under-used classroom and programming space into 41 new, and much-needed, supportive housing units.
Located on the ION corridor, the site provides close access to transit and local amenities.
At a ground breaking event on May 12, 2023, The Region of Waterloo announced funding of $8.9 million as part of the Building Better Futures initiative.
St. Peter’s and Indwell expect that tenants will call the new space home in spring 2024.
