How to get free compost from the Region of Waterloo1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minuteDid you know? The Region of Waterloo offers free, nutrient-rich compost for residents to pick up.
The compost is available from spring to fall, while quantities last, at our transfer stations in Waterloo (925 Erb Street West, Gate 2) or Cambridge (201 Savage Drive).
It’s simple! Just bring a shovel and containers – learn more in the video above. Remember, this material can run out. Learn more on this Waste Management webpage.
The compost is made from yard waste collected from Region of Waterloo residents, so this is a great example of recycling!
If you need a reminder of how to prepare yard waste for curbside collection, please visit the Region of Waterloo’s Yard Waste webpage. And you can check out this video to learn what happens to your compost and yard waste after we collect it.
P.S. We have free mulch too! This is not garden-quality mulch, but works well as fill.
