It’s a day of discovery! Doors Open has been a key event in Waterloo Region since 2003. This year’s event is Saturday, September 20 and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Go behind-the-scenes to explore local buildings and their stories. Visit sites featuring gorgeous architecture and rich local heritage. Meet fascinating people doing amazing things. Discover more about Waterloo Region during this immersive day of exclusive access.
Admission to all Doors Open sites is always free.
There are 23 participating sites, including: three churches, three museums, two architect studios, an art gallery, and a rural fire station. Enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of the studio at Rogers TV, the new cannery operation at the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Hub, and Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA).
Local history buffs will love the former 1852 jail, the old stories behind the new chic spaces at Den 1880, and the iconic Pioneer Tower.
Several locations are celebrating anniversaries as part of their Doors Open festivities, including Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, which turns 25 this year.
