Amazing BEES! are visiting the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum

Did you know, that pollinators, including bees, are responsible for one in every three bites of food humans consume? Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of bees and learn how you can help create habitats to support them. The BEES! exhibit is on now at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum.

Learn more about this new BEES! exhibit, its connection to our community, and how it came together in this video.

BEES! is a bilingual (English/French) exhibit offering an immersive and engaging experience for families. Get up close and personal with a queen bee, her egg and larvae in a giant honeycomb model. Test your bee knowledge on the BEE ID Spinner, try doing a Waggle Dance, or do research at the BEE-Search Station. With a live hive cam to see bees in action, and slides with hive facts, you will gain a newfound respect for this sophisticated insect and an understanding of how bee health is an indicator of the health of our environment.

BEES! was developed by the Museum of Surrey in collaboration with Honeybee Centre and funded by the Government of Canada. The bee models you see in the video (perched on the panels) were made by artist Andrew Krahn. Krahn created them by repurposing thrift store finds, including teddy bears, children’s toy bowling pins and an old screen door. Much of the exhibit was designed with sustainability in mind.

The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum is located at 10 Huron Road, Kitchener. Parking is free. Museum hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Waterloo Region Museums continue to work with community to share relevant stories and exhibits that help us understand Waterloo Region and connect us to the wider world. This is just one way the Region of Waterloo supports arts and culture in our community!
