Since 2016, the Region of Waterloo Library has been growing new collections to provide patrons with opportunities to connect, learn new skills, and create memories. These unique, diverse collections reflect our community’s changing interests and allow people to explore new hobbies at no cost.
Board games are one of these hands-on collections; library locations now have over 100 games for all ages! These are a great way for friends and families to connect with one another in fun and competitive ways. Interested in trying a new video game? Our libraries also have consoles and games to take home.
If you’re looking to discover a local landmark, the Region of Waterloo Library can provide passes and permits for Region of Waterloo Museums, THEMUSEUM, Ontario Parks, Grand River Conservation Authority, and more. Our museum family passes have been used nearly 1,400 times!
Hobby kits are another new library addition. For your next outdoor adventure, borrow a telescope with our stargazing kit or binoculars from our birdwatching kit! Over a dozen hobby kits can help you give crocheting, ukulele playing, or wood carving a try. Looking to grow your gardening skills this spring? Our Seed Library offers patrons various seeds to take home, including heirloom vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
The Region’s libraries also provide convenient, accessible technology to keep people connected. Away at the cottage, moving households, or without internet? Borrow one of the mobile hotspots!
The newest gadgets are C-Pen ReaderPens. These handheld scanners read text aloud and are beneficial for individuals with Dyslexia, Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or low vision, making reading more accessible for everyone.
